Here’s my first ukulele I made for a friend (Jane). It is Concert size made from various woods including Sitka Spruce for the soundboard, Meranti back and sides and Wenge for the neck, fret board and bridge. The binding is Mahogany sandwiched between two tone (B&W) PVC strip. The sound hole is decorated with Abalone and the Mahogany/PVC to match the binding.
The abalone/PVC pattern continued for the position markers on the fret board whilst the strings are held tight by the Grover Sta-Tite machine heads.
I was quite happy with the final result and the sound is very crisp and loud for such a small instrument. This was great fun to make and I feel more of these little gems will be coming along in the future……… Watch this space.
