Toy box

All young children need somewhere special to keep their treasured possessions so I made this for my Grandson. The bricks are individual pieces made from Sapele and Meranti whilst the corner pillars are solid Oak. The ply wood lining re-enforces the box and protects the decorative external panels.

The lid is a very old and very marvelous slab of mahogany recovered from a demolition site. With resin chess squares and inlays to help the little mouse find his cheese hidden away in the recesses.

Self opening/soft close hinges prevent the possibility of trapped fingers. I later added side guards to prevent fingers being caught in the hinges whilst closing.
